The Community package: Grow, at $0

Verified charities and community groups run on Chocka’s Grow plan at $0 a month. That is the real plan rather than a cut-down one: payments included at a 0% platform fee, memberships, every theme and the brand-colour picker. Community sites carry a small “Booked with Chocka” badge, which is what pays for it.

It is apply-to-join rather than instant signup, because we check your charity registration. See the Community package for what is included and how to ask.

Koha, on a free event

A free event can invite an optional contribution at the point of RSVP. You set the suggested amounts, or leave it open for people to choose their own, and nobody is charged for turning up. The word is yours as well as the amount: Chocka says koha by default, and you can rename it to donation, contribution or whatever your people call it.

Ticketed events, into your own account

A dinner, a gala or a members evening is a ticketed event with a cap and a waitlist behind it. The money goes into your own payment account rather than ours, on your own payout schedule, and on the Community package Chocka takes 0% of it. Because payment creates the booking, a table cannot be sold twice.

What Chocka does not do

Chocka is not a donation platform. Koha is an optional amount attached to a booking on a free event, and that is the whole of it. There is no standalone giving page, no regular or monthly giving, no appeal or campaign pages, and no donation or tax receipts. If fundraising rather than events is the job you need doing, this is the wrong tool and we would rather say so.

No member app, no email marketing and no marketplace sending you an audience. Multi-staff logins start on Thrive, which is worth checking against how many people need their own access.

Questions people actually ask

Is the Community package really $0?
Yes, for verified charities and community groups, and it is Grow rather than a stripped-back version of it — payments at a 0% platform fee, memberships, all themes. Community sites carry a small “Booked with Chocka” badge on the site and on customer emails. That badge is the arrangement.
Can we still sell tickets on it?
Yes. The Community package is not a no-payments package — you can ticket a gala or a fundraiser on it, and Chocka takes 0% of what you take. The payment processing itself is between you and your payment provider.
Can we take regular donations?
No. The only giving Chocka does is an optional contribution attached to a booking on a free event. There is no giving page, no monthly giving and no donation receipts, so a fundraising platform is still a separate thing you would run alongside it.
How do we get on the Community package?
You ask, and we check your registration — it is deliberately not instant signup. The Community page has the detail and the address to write to.
